Second/Third Room 204

Dear Families of Room 204,

We are excited to announce that Ms. Mindy Gersten will be joining our Harbor View School Family as the classroom special education teacher for room 204 on Tuesday,  January 3rd.  Ms. Gersten has been teaching for the past 14 years specializing in special education.  She started her career in Harlem where she worked in self-contained classrooms with students with learning disabilities and autism. Throughout the years she has taught second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades. She helped open an inclusion site for students with autism at the middle school level.  For the last 6 and half years, she has been working in  ICT classrooms in project-based learning elementary school in Brooklyn. Ms. Gersten and her family have a passion for the harbor and maritime education. They have been a part of our school community for the past two years, as both her children attend our school.  Ms. Gersten is also trained in the Responsive Classroom SEL model that is central to our vision.  We are very excited to have her join our school community. 

Please join us at one of our in person special Meet & Greet after-school sessions on Tuesday, January 10th or Tuesday, January 17th at 2:30pm. Ms. Gersten is looking forward to meeting you and your children and working with them this year!
